What is the protocol in the case of bad weather?

In the case of severe weather we reschedule the class to Friday. If severe weather occurs in the middle of the lesson and the lesson must end early we will try and make up the lost time another day.

If we have children doing lessons can we sit and watch?

We encourage parents to come and watch the lessons. We must ask that you do not distract the student or instructor during the lesson and that only students and parents of students be on deck during the lesson. Our first priority is to the swimmers and if any negative issues arise you may be asked to leave.

Can we reschedule classes?

We only reschedule private classes (as long as you give 48 hours notice). Semi-private classes cannot be rescheduled.

What does "Lifesaving Society Affiliate" mean?

Lifesaving Society Affiliates pay a fee to obtain the lesson plans and certificates from the Lifesaving Society. The Lifesaving Society also requests that a number of important safety features be implemented into the facility. By the end of your lesson you will be given a certificate that you can show to any other Lifesaving Society Affiliate (the City of Markham included) as proof that you have passed the level and can move on to the next.

Is your business insured?

Yes we are, we are covered in case of client injury while in the facility. If you are interested in the details please contact us for more information.

Where can we park?

Note that the Markham Swim School facility includes only the pool area. Anywhere else is private property, therefore please do not park on the driveway. There are plenty of parking spots along Mintleaf Gate or you can park in Mintleaf Plaza. DO NOT park in front of the house as there is a fire hydrant, the police are very vigilant of that spot and you will get ticketed and or towed.

Is there a washroom/changing rooms on site?

We would ask that you try and go to the washroom at home before heading to class. There is a chemical toilet available for emergencies (swimmer's use only).

Do I need goggles?

There is no good answer to this question; it all depends on how sensitive your eyes are. The Instructors will usually suggest to the students to not wear goggles as they can be a distraction in some cases. As mentioned previously, the pool is saltwater and therefore, it is gentler on the eyes than the public chlorine pools.
